Business Websites
Professional websites for service businesses and organizations, structured around your services, customers and conversion goals.
Web Design
Your website should do more than represent your business. It should help the right people understand what you do, trust you, find what they need and ultimately take the next step.
How We Think About Websites
There is a tendency in digital marketing to treat every visitor as though they need to be pushed immediately toward a form, booking page or checkout.
Our experience tells us the customer journey is usually more nuanced than that.
When we look at real conversion journeys, people often explore first. They visit the About page. They look through services. They check pricing or fees. They learn about the company. Then they come back and take action.
A website should create a clear path toward conversion without making someone feel trapped inside it. People want to feel that they are making their own decision.
Our job is to create the structure, information and signals that help them arrive at that decision.
What We Build
We don't force every client into the same platform or website structure. The approach depends on what the business needs today and where it needs to go next.
Professional websites for service businesses and organizations, structured around your services, customers and conversion goals.
Sometimes the business has moved forward and the website hasn't. We can refresh or completely rebuild an aging website so it better represents the business you have today.
Ecommerce experiences built around product discovery, navigation, trust, merchandising, mobile behaviour and a clear path toward checkout.
Focused landing pages for campaigns, offers and smaller businesses where a one-page presence makes sense.
WordPress websites built with the Flatsome UX Builder that can be managed by Vandy or handed directly over to you whenever you're ready.
Fully custom websites for projects where greater control over performance, design and development makes sense—just like the Vandy website you're using now.
We can take an existing Wix, Squarespace or similar website and rebuild it on a platform better suited to where the business is heading.
We're a digital marketing and web agency, not a software development company. Light custom functionality is often fine, but if the core project is complex software or a software-heavy application, we're probably not the right team.
Designed Around Conversion
What do we want the right visitor to do next?
For a service business, that may be submitting an inquiry, booking an appointment or making a phone call.
For an ecommerce business, it may be discovering the right product and completing checkout.
Every website has different goals, but the structure should make those goals easier to achieve while still allowing the customer to explore and make decisions naturally.
Responsive by Design
Most website journeys now happen on phones, particularly for consumer-facing service businesses and ecommerce.
That's why mobile is often our starting point.
But we don't blindly apply that rule to every project. If you're selling to someone who is most likely researching your business from a desk during the workday, desktop behaviour may deserve more attention early in the process.
We look at your audience and how they actually interact with businesses like yours, then design accordingly.
Either way, the finished website needs to work exceptionally well across mobile, tablet and desktop.
Our Process
Strong websites begin with understanding, structure and planning before visual design enters the picture.
Before designing anything, we work to understand the business, services, customers, historical conversions, competition, branding, marketing channels and what the new website actually needs to accomplish.
Next we determine the appropriate hosting, platform, pages, navigation and information architecture.
For larger rebuilds, we carefully consider existing URLs, content, internal links and redirects so valuable search engine visibility isn't unnecessarily disrupted.
We create a low-fidelity wireframe—the skeleton of the website—to work through page structure, hierarchy, information architecture and conversion paths before visual details begin influencing the decisions.
Once the structure is right, we apply your branding, typography, copy, photography, video and other visual elements.
You'll be involved throughout the process. Most projects include two to three rounds of revisions depending on scope.
Before launch, we work through responsive behaviour, forms, integrations, analytics, tracking, SEO foundations, performance, internal linking, metadata and quality assurance.
After Launch
A website can look right and still behave differently than expected.
We use our experience and judgement to design the strongest website we can from the beginning. Once real visitors begin using it, however, we can begin learning from actual behaviour.
Tools such as Contentsquare can help us understand how people move through the site—what they click, where they hesitate, what they ignore and which paths lead toward conversion.
Sometimes the data validates the original decisions. Sometimes it tells us something should change.
When appropriate, we use that information to make evidence-based improvements rather than treating launch day as the finish line.
Website Copy
Writing website copy isn't simply about explaining what you do.
We think about the objections, uncertainties and questions someone may have before they decide to work with you, then structure the content to address them.
We're happy to collaborate with you on copy, work from existing materials or follow established brand guidelines.
Search visibility is considered along the way through page structure, headings, keywords, semantic context, internal linking and careful formatting.
Photography & Video
You can tell someone your business is great. Or you can show them.
Text explicitly tells someone what you want them to understand. Strong photography and video allow people to see the business and form that conclusion for themselves.
When stronger media would materially improve the website, we may recommend a photography or videography session as part of the project.
The media can then be planned intentionally around the services, people, experiences and messages we want prospective customers to understand.
Integrations
Depending on your project, we can connect the website with the systems your business already relies on.
If there's something specific you need connected and you're not sure whether it's possible, send us a message. We'll figure out the options with you.
What's Included
We don't believe every business needs the same website package. Your proposal clearly outlines what's included before the project begins.
What We'll Need From You
We'll guide the process, but strong projects depend on collaboration. You don't need to arrive with everything perfectly organized—we'll help determine what's needed.
What are you trying to accomplish with the new website?
Photography, video, logos, brand guidelines and any other useful materials.
Where required, we'll need access to domains, hosting, analytics and existing website systems.
We'll ask questions throughout the project because understanding the nuances of your business is part of building the right website.
Ownership
We don't hold websites hostage.
If you want us to build the website and hand it over, we can.
If you want us to continue managing it, we can do that too.
For WordPress projects, we can provide the access and guidance you need to manage the website yourself going forward. For custom websites with a CMS, we'll make sure you understand how to publish and manage the content you're responsible for.
We want clients to stay because working with Vandy continues to make sense—not because we've made leaving unnecessarily difficult.
Hosting & Maintenance
Hosting is available through Vandy and typically renews annually, with pricing based on the demands of your website.
We highly recommend ongoing security, maintenance and performance monitoring for most websites. You can have us manage that or take responsibility for it yourself.
For businesses where organic search is important, ongoing SEO may also make sense after launch.
And when enough traffic exists to learn from actual customer behaviour, we can continue looking for opportunities to improve conversion performance.
The Bigger Picture
Google Ads sends people there.
SEO brings people there.
Meta introduces people to your brand before they arrive.
Photography influences how they perceive you.
Copy answers their questions.
Analytics tells us what happens next.
Conversion optimization helps us make it better.
That's why we approach web design as part of a larger marketing system rather than an isolated creative project.
